hi hi (: sorry this is seemingly so random, but i'm a senior in high school looking to become a nurse :D i was just wondering, did you get accepted into WCU straight out of high school or did you have to get like an AA first? thank youu :]

Hi :) no I got into WCU when i was 23. I tried the cal state route, but the waiting list was way toooo long. So I did some research, I found WCU, and I just went for it. I’m pretty happy with my decision. With WCU, you can go straight out of high school, and finish in about 3 years. It’s an accelerated program. If you start out of high school, you will take all the pre-reqs there and then after you pass those classes you will get into the nursing core classes. The pros about this school? No wait time, you always have spot, your schedule is taken care of (meaning you don’t register and fight for a spot), you finish faster. The cons? It’s expensive, BUT I will say that any other private school is just as expensive if you go the four year route (really 5 years these days). As for public colleges, they are highly competitive, and the wait lists are crazy long, BUT just work hard and study hard and you can get in to the cal states. FINALLY, in my personal opinion? Go for your BSN. You can get an associate’s RN, BUT many hospital’s nowadays will prefer you to have a BSN. Magnet hospitals will only want BSNs. Hope this helped :)
