I came across your post about your nursing program and I'm just curious what you thought about it since you're almost finished with it. Congrats on that by the way! I'm starting the BSN program at my school very soon and I'm terrified. I don't really know what to expect as far as how hard and overwhelming it is. I'm a very hard worker and make excellent grades. But after hearing what others say about, it I'm just nervous i'm going to get in there and realize that I can't handle it you know..

Thanks! I’m very happy to finish soon. Currently, I’m in an accelerated nursing program. I won’t lie. Transitioning from my pre-req classes to nursing classes was so difficult for me. Since you’re a hard worker, I’m sure you’ll be okay, and you will definitely get used to the rigorous course load. There is a ton of reading and studying but that’s a given. Something I wish I had known before I started my core classes? I wish that I had worked on my critical thinking skills and how to answer NCLEX questions. I’m pretty good at it now, but in the beginning it was hard because I was also used to getting the excellent grades as well. BUT as soon as I did get the hang of those two things, it really showed in my grades/GPA. Another important thing to remember is to manage your time wisely. I’ve been told this numerous times lol and I still pull all nighters. Organization is definitely key. I’m also the type of person that buys all the textbooks and reads them word for word plus I buy the supplement books and the NCLEX books to help me too. This is what I do. I’m not suggesting you HAVE to do these things. This is getting really long. Sorry about that lol

Basically, keep working hard. Figure out what motivates you to be the best. It sounds corny, but my motivation comes from within myself. That motivation is what helps me stay up a bit longer to study or read just a few more pages each day. Everyone says this, but it’s really worth it. When you get that first patient in clinical and you make their day just a bit brighter and better. They tell you, “Thank you” with a big smile on their face. There is no feeling like that feeling of purpose and accomplishment you walk away with at the end of the day.

Good luck on starting your program. It’s scary, but go in there with positive thoughts. Feel to free to ask me anymore questions if you need to :D
